I am joining 10 of my colleagues trekking 100 miles along the Great Wall of China in September.
I am funding the trip to China out of my own pocket, so every penny you donate goes directly to Hope for Children.
Why am I doing this ?
In October 2014 I went to Delhi with Hope for Children to see the work being done with street children. It was a very humbling experience. I learnt a number of things in those 3 days - how incredibly lucky I am, how a small amount of money to us can make an enormous difference when given to others, how education can truly change lives and allow street children to break out of generations of living in slums, and that it was time I played my part in trying to help others. The children I met lived in appalling conditions, and face enormous challenges in their lives. But they were inspirational. The smiles on their faces when they were participating in the classes organised by Chetna on a tarpaulin in the middle of a slum. The girl with a terrible burn on her hand that needed medical attention, but didn't want to miss the class demonstrated their determination to learn and break the cycle of working on the streets at the age of 7. Hope for Children are a small charity with a hard working team. They don't have big fancy expensive offices - just a desire to make a difference.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you can help.
